With a speedy power bank, your smartphones, tablets, MacBooks and similar devices can be fully charged in no time at all. Even more practical: if the power bank also has several ports, including USB-A and USB-C, you can save time by charging different devices at the same time.

One example of this is the 140W Anker 737 Power bank, which currently costs just £85.99 on Amazon thanks to a 39 percent discount. Admittedly, this is not exactly cheap compared to the best-selling power banks – but the world’s No. 1 mobile charger offers significantly more. If you are looking for a new multi-charger, you should be quick, as the offer could end at any time.

What the Anker 737 Power bank has to offer

It would probably be easier to list all the things you can’t charge with the Anker 737, because with 140 watts it delivers enough power to supply an iPhone 15, a MacBook and a Nintendo Switch with sufficient juice at the same time. However, customers only get the full power if both the device you wish to charge and the USB-C cable are capable of accepting this fast charging output. The three connections – two USB-C ports and one USB-A port – can therefore be used to connect and charge a wide range of devices.

According to the manufacturer, the battery capacity of 24,000mAh is sufficient to charge an iPhone 13 around five times and even seven times faster than conventional power banks. Thanks to PowerIQ 3.0 technology, it not only recognises iOS and macOS devices, but also others such as Android smartphones and adjusts the power accordingly.

The easy-to-read LED display always shows the current output and input power as well as the remaining charging time of the portable charger. The MultiProtect safety technology and improved heat dissipation offer reliable protection against short circuits and overheating.

With a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars and an overwhelming majority of the 8,000 Amazon customers who have already purchased the external mobile phone battery, the charging performance and robustness of the Anker 737 power bank is highly praised. As a result, the little powerhouse has scurried across the mail-order giant’s virtual counter over 1,000 times in the past month. It is currently available with a discount of 39 per cent for just £85.99 and comes with a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty on top.

What you should consider when buying a power bank

A well thought-out selection ensures that the power bank meets your exact needs and reliably supplies enough energy. To ensure that the external battery is not only functional, but also practical and durable, the following points should be considered to make the purchase decision easier:

Capacity: The capacity, measured in mAh (milliampere hours), determines how often you can charge your devices. A higher capacity is ideal for longer journeys or for devices with high energy requirements such as handheld games consoles and laptops.

Output power: Check the power bank’s output power, often expressed in watts (W) or amps (A), to make sure it can charge your devices efficiently. A higher power output usually means faster charging.

Charging speed: Fast charging functions such as QC (Quick Charge) or PD (Power Delivery) enable faster charging. Make sure that your device supports these functions.

Number and type of ports: Make sure the power bank has the appropriate ports, e.g. USB-A or USB-C, and that it has enough ports to charge multiple devices at the same time.

Size and weight: For everyday use, a compact power bank that is easy to take with you and doesn’t take up too much space in handbags or rucksacks is ideal. High-capacity models are often heavier.

Safety features: Choose branded products with safety features such as overcharge protection to avoid risks. Certifications can also indicate safety.

An ideal portable charger offers a balanced combination of capacity, mobility and charging efficiency. If you want to quickly supply your smartphone, tablet or handheld devices such as the Nintendo Switch with power, the Anker 737 Powerbank is a real bargain : it currently costs just £85.99. As the discount campaign could end at any time, you should act just as quickly as the power bank charges devices if you are interested.
