Amazon’s first big sales event of the year is upon us, and you can already get an excellent deal on one of its best smart displays.

The latest Echo Show 5, which was only released last year, is already available with a massive 44% discount. Rather than the usual £89.99, it’ll only cost you £49.99 – that’s superb value for money.

Like many deals in the ‘Spring Deal Days’ sale, you don’t need to be an Amazon Prime member to access it. However, subscribing will get you free next-day delivery, and there’s a free 30-day trial available if you haven’t signed up before.

The Echo Show 5 is one of the best Alexa smart displays that Amazon makes. As the name suggests, it combines smart speaker functionality with a 5-inch screen, allowing you to display the likes of home security camera feeds, photos and video. You can also display the lyrics while you sing along to your favourite songs.

In our 8/10 review, we praised the Echo Show 5’s “bright, sharp display”, fast Alexa response time and the presence of a solid front-facing camera for video calling.

A price rise compared to its predecessor was the main thing that counted against it, but you don’t have to worry about that anymore. It’s now the lowest price it’s been all year.

The Echo Show 5 ideal device for beside your bed, or anywhere else where you might want a smart display in your home. At this price, you could buy two for under £100 – only slightly more than the usual cost of one.

However, it’s not likely to stay that way for long. Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sale is due to end at 11.59pm on 25 March, so the price may go up after that.
