If you’re thinking about switching broadband, now could be a good time. BT is running a month-long offer where you can switch and get the first six months half price.
The same applies if you also take out one of its TV packages: you’ll pay half the normal price for six months.
The deals run until 1 February and they mean you don’t have to pay the usual £29.99 setup fee, making it even sweeter.
These are the plans you can choose between, although you’ll need to use BT’s postcode checker to find out which are available at your address:
BT Fibre Essential (36 Mbps): £14.49 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £28.99 (a saving of £116)BT Fibre 2 (73 Mbps): £16.99 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £33.99 (a saving of £131)Full Fibre (900 Mbps): £27.99 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £55.99 (a saving of £197)
They’re all two-year contracts and come with BT’s Smart Hub 2 router (Wi-Fi 5) and the option of upgrading to Complete Wi-Fi – BT’s mesh Wi-Fi – for £6 per month for the first six months instead of the normal £12. (If you go for Full Fibre, it’s only £5 per month, and £10 per month after the discount.)
They don’t include a landline, but if you want one for phone calls you can add one for no extra cost (you still pay for the phone calls, of course).
Some of the extras you get with BT broadband include virus protection (Norton Security), web protection (to filter out dangerous or potentially inappropriate websites) and parental controls that allow you to pause the Wi-Fi connection to your kids’ devices during bedtime.
If you also want entertainment, BT has quite a few different packages that might interest you. Prices
BT Entertainment (NOW, Netflix, Discovery Channel and AMC) – £9 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £18 (a saving of £84)BT Big Entertainment (adds NOW Cinema to above package) – £14 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £28 (a saving of £114)BT Sport (BT Sport channels, Eurosport 1 & 2, and AMC) – £8.50 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £17 (a saving of £81)BT Big Sport (adds NOW Sports to above package) – £21 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £42 (a saving of £156)BT VIP (All entertainment and sports, including 4K) – £37.50 per month for the first 6 months and then a monthly cost of £75 (a saving of £255)
Whichever package you choose, it’s a 24-month contract as with the broadband, but you get the flexibility to switch to a different package as and when you want.
The BT TV deals are available to existing BT broadband customers as well as new ones, and come with the latest BT TV Box Pro which (finally) has built-in Wi-Fi and also supports 4K, Dolby Atmos and has space for up to 600 hours of TV recordings.
