Google has appointed Helen Kelisky as its new managing director of cloud business for the UK and Ireland.

Kelisky has more than 30 years’ experience in the tech industry, having previously held senior sales and leadership roles at OpenText, Salesforce and IBM.

She will join Google Cloud from OpenText where she was vice-president of B2B EMEA sales. In her new role at Google, Kelisky will be responsible for its cloud operations and sales strategy across the UK and Ireland. She will be based in London.

In a Tweet following Google’s announcement of her new position, Kelisky said she was “thrilled to join the company at such an exciting period of growth and to support more UK and Ireland businesses through digital and cloud transformation.”

Kelisky is also interested in advocacy and she holds several positions in the area. She is a board member at Women in Telecoms and Technology, a non-profit organisation set up to champion women in the sector.

Prior to her positions at OpenText and Google, Kelisky served briefly as commercial adviser to Software-as-a-Service start-up Autto.io. Before taking that role she was senior VP for cloud sales in the UK and Ireland at Salesforce, and VP for marketing cloud for the company’s EMEA division.

She was at IBM for seven years, where she served as VP for cloud for the UK and Ireland for three years. Before taking that position, Kelisky was the company’s VP for London and South enterprise business and IBM’s VP of the telecoms and media industry for Ireland and the UK. She began her leadership journey at IBM in Zurich, where she served as systems group sales lead.

Kelisky was welcomed to her new job at Google Cloud by Adaire Fox-Martin, who was herself only recently appointed head of operations for Google Ireland. Fox-Martin is also Google’s cloud president for the EMEA region. She was appointed to that role last July after rising quickly through the ranks at the company.
